Did You Know? - Health Insurance Fact:
Losing a job, or quitting voluntarily, can mean losing affordable coverage - not only for the worker but also for their entire family. Only seven percent of the unemployed can afford to pay for COBRA health insurance - the continuation of group coverage offered by their former employers. Premiums for this coverage average almost $700 a month for family coverage and $250 for individual coverage, a very high price given the average $1,100 monthly unemployment check .

Doctor's Realm Quote of the day:
For every physician perceived by the public to be bowing to the tenets of managed care and somehow short-changing its needs, or headlined by the press as party to some nefarious scheme, there still are thousands of doctors dragging out of their beds in the middle of the night and stumbling into their cars to handle emergencies, thousands settling in for long session with their last patients of the day simply because those patients had indicated they needed extra time; thousands whose dinner gets cold, whose children don't see them at birthday parties, and whose spouses find they aren't going to get to see that movie after all. - Eric Anderson, MD
